President Trump revealed the next class of Kennedy Center Honors recipients on Wednesday.
Honorees include actor Sylvester Stallone, country music star George Strait, disco singer Gloria Gaynor, actor Michael Crawford and the rock band KISS.
On Tuesday, he praised the “great nominees” of the "Kennedy Center Awards," teasing that his name could possibly replace that of the 35th president on the historic institution.
The Wednesday announcement comes after the president spoke with European allies earlier in the morning — and just two days before he is set to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Leaders are working to guard against the worst-case scenario: Trump aligning with Putin to push a bad deal for Ukraine.
While the president has expressed increased frustration with Putin and Russia’s attacks on Ukraine, he this week reverted to criticisms that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is to blame for stating the war. Zelensky will not be at the Alaska summit.
