Huckabee vows 'unwavering' support for Israel in first visit as ambassador

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee lauded Israel during his first official visit to the country, while offering prayers for peace.

Huckabee’s visit to Jerusalem coincided with Good Friday and came after Israel launched several airstrikes across Gaza on Friday killing at least 25 individuals in their war against Hamas.

“This morning, I visited @westernwall_il in Israel’s eternal capital, Jerusalem, and placed a prayer from @POTUS between the stones,” he wrote in a Friday post on X.

“On behalf of President Trump and the American people, I say to Israel: our commitment to you is unwavering and we pray for the immediate return of all the hostages. Israel will never be alone,” he added in the post.

The U.S. ambassador said every effort was being made to win the release of hostages held by Hamas.

They are currently holding 59 hostages, 24 of whom are believed to be alive, according to the Associated Press
